If you’ve grown up in a Republican and/or conservative
household I’m sure you’ve seen Fox News on the screen many times, perhaps all
night sometimes.
According to a study done by Pew Research there are several
factors that show Fox News has an extremely biased product. According to Pew’s
study over 60% of Fox News watchers identify themselves as conservatives. It
would be natural to lean towards what the majority of your audience prefers,
however is that the point of media?
Wasn’t the purpose of a news broadcast to relay information
and “news” not press political bills and voters?
To top off the uneven statistics Fox News actually costs
more than other news broadcasts, but it’s audience still continues to pay the
extra. Do you think that is something that would be necessary if news
broadcasts weren’t biased? Although research shows Fox News outspends all of it’s
competitors for various funds and running expenses wouldn’t this seem a little
strange if you were asked to pay 50 cents more for the same candy bar, but this
one had a red wrapper instead of a blue wrapper?

What do you think about it?

While 60% of Fox viewers might be conservative, I'd bet that more than that are liberal on MSNBC. Many people critisize Fox News, but at the same time, its the only real conservative outlet of TV. All the others are a bit biased toward the left. Perhaps not as much as Fox is to the right, but there are a lot more networks out there with left wing biases than just the one on the right.
ReplyDeleteFox might also cost extra but that might be due to better coverage, more writers et cetera. The viewers don't pay for it though, they get their revenue from ads.
As I look at the data found in the Pew Research study, I can also see that Fox is not the only network that has a biased broadcast. Yes, Fox is spun to the right but MSNBC and CNN are even more one sided to the left. As a whole the article is taking a study and writing a left spin on it. The purpose of the large media outlets is to turn a profit because that is the only way for the m to stay operational. In order to gain the viewers necessary to maintain ratings, media is going to be spun one way or the other.
